About us
Building the future of chemistry together
The Computational & Theoretical Chemistry (CTC) section connects and represents professionals, researchers, and students in this dynamic field across the Netherlands and Flanders. Our scope is broad and inclusive: ranging from quantum theory and complex computer simulations to experimentalists with a strong interest in theory and modeling. Because chemical challenges transcend disciplinary boundaries, we welcome everyone active in the computational sciences, including related fields such as physics and biology.
Our mission
As a section, we believe that scientific progress goes hand in hand with a strong, responsible community. We are committed to:
-Connecting and sharing knowledge: We bridge the gap between universities and disciplines to accelerate innovation and the development of theoretical frameworks, models, and software.
-Showcasing talent: We believe in the power of the next generation. Through accessible initiatives like our monthly online PhD+ Seminars, we offer young researchers a welcoming environment to present their work. Additionally, we highlight exceptional doctoral research with our biennial CTC Thesis Award.
We achieve this by organizing symposia and meetings, establishing task forces, and maintaining strong ties with like-minded networks both at home and abroad.
Meet our board
Behind these initiatives lies a dedicated team that champions our members' interests and steers the section's direction. Below, we introduce the board of the KNCV CTC section:
