NMR Discussiegroep

The Dutch NMR Discussion Group

The Dutch NMR Discussion Group organises annual meetings for the NMR and ESR community in the Netherlands and Belgium. The NMRDG aims at communicating a broad range of NMR/MRI/ESR applications. Both the industrial and academic field are represented in the NMRDG. Membership is free and open to all interested individuals. The NMRDG operates under the auspices of the Section Analytical Chemistry of the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (SAC-KNCV).

Join us at the FBNL-MR meeting in Rijssel/Lille, June 2-5!

After our festive celebration of the 60th NMR-DG, we now invite the Dutch NMR community to join us for another special meeting in the charming and vibrant city of Rijssel / Lille!

We are excited to co-organize the next France-Belgium-Netherlands-Luxembourg joined Magnetic Resonance Conference to be held in Lille, France, from Tuesday June 2 to Friday June 5, 2026, at the LILLIAD Learning Center Innovation building (https://lilliad.univ-lille.fr/) located on the campus of the University of Lille.

The meeting will bring together experts from four countries across all fields of magnetic resonance and features exciting keynote lectures from invited speakers: Malene Ringkjøbing Jensen, Dominik Bucher, Marie Poirier-Quinot, Mario Chiesa, Carmela Aprile, Arno Kentgens, Laura Castañar-Acedo and Jannie Wijnen.

Additional 44 slots will be reserved for oral presentations selected from abstracts, particularly suited to early career researchers, including Master's students, PhD candidates and recent graduates. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, a number of scholarships covering the registration fees for young participants will be available.

Please visit the conference’s website to register (https://fbnl-mr-2026.sciencesconf.org/) and follow updates on the program.

See you all very soon in Lille!

C.J. Gorter NMR-DG Award

The C.J. Gorter NMR-DG Award is funded by the Stichting Magnetische Resonantie “NMR-DG” and is given every two years for the best Ph.D. thesis in the area of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and/or magnetic resonance imaging of the preceding two years. The purpose of the Award is to provide recognition to young scientists in The Netherlands who have performed thesis work of outstanding scientific quality. The Award consists of a certificate and a prize of € 1500 in cash, at full disposal of the laureate for enhancing her/his scientific career. The Award will be presented at the annual symposium of the Dutch NMR-DG, where the laureate is expected to present an acceptance lecture.

Candidates can be nominated by their PhD (co)promotor or supervisor, or can apply themselves for the Award by sending a short motivation letter with contact details of one or two persons that can be contacted for a reference, the candidate’s CV (including a publication list), the thesis summary and a link to a downloadable digital version of the thesis to the NMR-DG (nmrdgnl@gmail.com). A letter of recommendation by the (co-)promotor or supervisor specifying the contribution of the candidate in the research is very helpful.

Eligible candidates need to have obtained their doctorate at a university in The Netherlands on a topic in the field of magnetic resonance in a broad sense. The thesis should have been defended in the two preceding years (May 1 2024 – May 1 2026).

The Award jury consists of representatives of the Stichting Magnetische Resonantie “NMR-DG” and the Netherlands NMR Discussion Group (who will act as the jury chairman and the jury secretary) and 3–4 additional members, from different magnetic resonance disciplines and appointed by the board of the Dutch NMR-DG. The jury will make a shortlist of 5-10nominees who will be invited to submit 5 hard copies of their thesis. The jury must reach a unanimous decision on the Award and motivate their choice in a laudation, to be presented at the annual symposium of the Dutch NMR-DG. The travel costs of the laureate to participate and present his/her thesis research in this symposium can be reimbursed (maximum € 500) by the Stichting Magnetische Resonantie “NMR-DG”.

Deadlines & expected time schedule for the 2026 Award
May 11th Submission motivation letter, CV, thesis summary, digital version of the thesis, and preferably a letter of recommendation by the (co-)promotor
June 16th Preselection of 5-10 candidates by the jury, and contact with these Award nominees
July 1th Submission of 5 hard copies of the thesis (shortlisted nominees only)
September Jury decision and informing of the Prize winner and other nominees
Mid October Award ceremony at the annual Dutch NMR Discussion Group meeting
